Thank you for your interest in setting up, hosting, and volunteering to participate in a clothing drive for OASIS!  All hours, including driving/transportation, will be counted towards high school community service hours.  Plus, you will be helping many needy children.


Items to collect in a clothing drive – any or all of the items listed below:

  • New or gently used children/teen clothing appropriate to wear to school, sizes 4T – adult 5XL (Especially in need of boys’ shorts/pants currently)
  • Hoody sweatshirts and lightweight jackets
  • Gently used shoes (overly worn shoes will be recycled)
  • New hygiene items: toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, deodorant, soap
  • Linens: towels, sheets, blankets, comforters, washcloths 
  • New socks/underwear (used socks and underwear will be recycled)
  • Baby clothes and items

Note:  We do not accept toys or large household items at this time due to space restrictions.

Clothing drive instructions

1. Decide on a location for the drive. Locations include: 
  • local private or public school
  • church or place of worship
  • neighborhood or community
  • special event (soccer tournament, football game, etc)
  • organize pick-up of lost and found at local school, hotel, or other facility 
2. Clothing drive procedure
  • Advertise!  Use your own creativity to advertise your drive
  • Create a flyer to hand out or distribute
  • Set up a Facebook event page
  • Send emails to friends, family, neighbors
  • Distribute emails through school 
  • Put ad in community papers
3. Collect!
  • Use OASIS ready-made bins (email Ginger at gingstubean@aol.com to schedule a pick-up of the bins or
  • Create your own bins/boxes for collection or
  • Pass out garbage bags with the flyer when distributed
  • Place bins in location for duration of the drive, no more than a week or
  • Collect individual boxes/bags at your neighbors’ houses
4. Sort!  Wash!
  • Wash dirty items if appropriate and can be cleaned
  • All usable school clothing should be folded and placed in boxes or bags labeled: Boys, Girls, Women, Men
  • For non-appropriate items (torn, stained, used underwear, t-shirts with race dates, etc.), label Non-school items.  (These items will be recycled.)
5. Deliver!
  • Deliver items to OASIS located at Tampa Palms Elementary School, 6100 Tampa Palms Blvd or to OASIS in south Tampa at Manhattan Center.  
  • Email Ginger at gingstubean@aol.com  to arrange for someone to meet you there for drop-off.  
  • Your community service form will signed at this time.
