The Hillsborough County School District is the 8th largest school district in the country, serving approximately 200,000 students.
Almost 60% of all students in Hillsborough County public schools live in poverty, evidenced by their qualifying for the federal free / reduced price lunch program. Studies show that students perform better when they are not concerned about lack of appropriate clothing and other necessities. This program is possible through a unique partnership with some 140 social workers of Hillsborough County School District. When a social worker identifies a child lacking basic necessities, the social worker may visit one of our facilities to select whatever the child may need-- free of charge! With this quick process and minimal red tape, a child can receive items the same day they are requested. |
