"O is Outstanding for the help OASIS gives by providing clothes for my students to wear so they feel good about themselves and don't need to come to school in improperly fitted outfits.
A is for the Attitude (a positive one) that my students show when they don't have to worry about not having the supplies they need to learn at school. S is for Superstar Students that OASIS has helped them to be by giving them self esteem, "When you look good, you feel good" is still true today. I is for Integrity that we can serve our students and families with by being able to access supplies and clothing at OASIS. We can serve those students and families with dignity. If you could have seen the smile on the little boy's face when he put on his brand new sneakers and bounced off to class , it's awesome to know you made a difference in his day! S is for Stewardship the staff at OASIS provides the supplies the school social workers need to help our students be successful, therefore we need to be good stewards of those blessings so that many lives can continue to be touched. Thank you OASIS for helping me make a difference in the students and families lives at my school." Social Worker, Kimbell Elementary |
"I have a teacher here at Roland Park who unexpectedly got her high school step daughter from another state right after we all returned to work. She came to me and asked about clothes and other essentials - the child came to live with her with just flip flops, a couple of tank tops, and a couple of very short shorts.
I was able to find regular clothes, underclothes, and even shoes (The child is a runner and wanted to join track)! I also found some school supplies. The next day, the teacher told me that the girl really loved the things that were provided by OASIS! You see, OASIS even has brand name clothes (Aeropostale, American Eagle, etc.) that teenagers all love. She was able to start school in appropriate clothing, join track, and even have school supplies. Sometimes we forget that even our own at times face hard times." Social Worker, Roland Park "The student was thrilled with the shoes! If you could have seen her smile. she took off her old, ill-fitting shoes, put on the new ones right away and said to thank the ‘nice lady who bought them for me!'"
